Shark Teeth Fossil Kit

fossil kit

Shark teeth fossil kit for STEM learning! This hands-on kit comes with an ID chart, magnifying glass, and suggested activities. Includes the Sharks Unit Study!

Sorting, categorizing, identifying fossils, and labeling are just a few skills your child can acquire using this extraordinary fossil kit. Most of all, these tools can help to develop a lifetime love of learning as they discover the vast wonders of the world they live in.

Shark Teeth Fossil Kit

Each kit is unique as the teeth and fossils are harvested responsibly by hand from the beaches and rivers in southwest Florida. Kits include a variety of fossilized sharks teeth such as: Great White, Megalodon, Sand Shark, Mako, Dusky, Snaggletooth, Lemon, and Tiger. We do our best to select some from each category as available.

100 – 120 Fossilized Shark Teeth in each pack. Some are tiny and perfectly pointed while others are medium size and rounded from being tossed through sand. We choose a couple of teeth that we call “necklace worthy” that can be wired and worn on a rope chain.

Additional fossils collected by hand are barbs, scoots, drumfish or dolphin teeth, mammoth or mastodon tooth chip, pufferfish mouthplates snails, clams, tusk pieces, and a variety of manatee and other bones.

Both the chart and the kit are labeled for identification. If you cannot identify a fossil, kids are encouraged to make their best educated guess or add it to miscellaneous.

*Ammonites, Brachiopods, Crinoid Stems, Gastropods Clams, fossilized Branch Coral and Orthoceras are purchased in bulk from a trusted teaching supply source to add value and variety to the kits.

Nature Homeschool – Kinesthetic Learning Style

Nature Homeschool

The Nature Homeschool is extremely compatible with the Kinesthetic Learning Style in your homeschool. Kinesthetic learning is active learning, hands on learning. It works well for all kids, but especially for those with dyslexia or who simply learn best this way.

Getting students outdoors to explore God’s creation, gets them excited about learning and is the perfect backdrop for tactile, kinesthetic and dyslexic learners. As a matter of fact, it’s a wonderful backdrop for all learners.

Nature Homeschool Walks

From the beginning of our family homeschool, nature walks have played an important role in the education of our children. It is an easy and engaging kinesthetic learning style technique if you apply a few interesting learning strategies. I’m so glad we learned early on to incorporate this style of learning! It makes for some terrific communication and conversations with my boys! We walk, we listen and look at the flora and fauna all around us. I’m amazed at the impact it has had on their education.

I used to be the teacher . . . these days as we walk and explore – they are often telling me what type of bird or bug we are looking at!  They have become inspired by this style of learning . . . to investigate further, read and research more about the animals and habitats we come across. Best of all, they have learned to recognize the fingerprints of the Creator on His masterpiece!

Nature Homeschool

Kinesthetic Learning Style Tools

We find these nature walks and tools to be extremely beneficial to our dyslexic learner, and all our boys! They are all different, yet this hands on learning style works well for each of them. Some of the tools we use to enhance learning (and have put together in our exciting adventure packs) are listed below.

  • Backpack
  • Binoculars
  • Journal
  • Sketchbook
  • Magnifying glass
  • Bug viewer
  • Measuring tape

On one of our nature walks, we spotted and observed a stone crab, kestrel, robins, blue jays, fish, wild coffee, caterpillar, cicada, garden pineapple, and an alligator. Although, your nature walk doesn’t need to provide quite such diverse options, it was a fruitful nature walk! While alligator sightings may seem more exciting, it can be just as interesting to take a close up look at pretty weeds to discover the tiny insects hiding there.

The boys used their magnifying glasses to take close looks at those they were able. They used their binoculars to spot the kestrel and look closely at the robins. The boys measured the width of several different trees and compared the bark and leaves in their nature journals. They sketched pictures and entered scientific data and we will continue the study by looking up additional information on the flora and fauna we saw.

These are some of the favorite tools which have allowed us to take a deeper look into nature. Our boys are learning to recognize the fingerprints of their Creator, and to learn more about Him and the world around them by the careful study of His design.

Geography Binder Builder

Geography Binder Builder

In this geography binder builder links to websites, videos, and pictures are provided on countries A-Z. After visiting the website link page to read about a country, students will click the button to watch videos on the country. Additionally, pages are provided with country pictures.

Students will cut out pictures and add them to binder builder pages along with any facts and a summary of the information they have learned about the country.

More study from the library or internet research is always available for a deeper dive study. The same notebooking pages can be used to organize any information gleaned in the process.

The colorful graphics are terrific for students with dyslexia and other learning issues. The combination of physically putting the pages together, reading online together, and video input is a great way to reach multiple learning styles and helps students retain information learned.

What is a Binder Builder?

A binder builder is simply a set of graphics and notebooking pages to organize information learned on various topics. The information is accumulated and displayed in a binder, which grows as you build it full of fun facts, pictures, and information. Use the cover from this curriculum or create your own Binder Builder Cover. Let kids personalize them as desired. Map pages can also be used as an attractive cover.

Light of the World Bible Copywork

Bible Copywork - Light of the World

Use our free Light of the World Bible Copywork to teach writing in your homeschool. Dyslexia friendly font is included in this Print and Cursive pack.

Light of the World Bible Copywork

Have you discovered the virtues of using copywork in your homeschool? If not, you soon will! In a Charlotte Mason style, students use well-written passages (often from the bible, poetry, or other classical pieces) to improve writing.

Of course, they are also working on reading and spelling at the same time. This Light of the World Bible Copywork package provides study opportunities for bible, reading, spelling, and writing – as well as a creative coloring page. The artwork can play an important role in helping those with dyslexia prepare to learn.

Benefits of Copywork

There are many benefits to using copywork in your homeschool. One benefit (as mentioned above) is that it exposes your students to beautifully written works – such as the Bible and others.

Something that our students have enjoyed is the fact that – with pages like these – there is a short amount of writing to do at a time. The key is having them do it consistently.

Copywork can be used to share any literary genre you like. Again, I find that short passages, or little at a time, is best. The idea isn’t to make them write until their fingers are tired, but to expose them to good writing, vocabulary, spelling and grammar – while they practice handwriting.

It’s a time-saver! Once your kids learn that they can sometimes combine spelling, vocabulary, bible, and writing . . . they will certainly appreciate the time it saves them. In our homeschool, this means more time to explore additional interests!
