The Romans Road Copywork

The Romans Road Copywork is a great way to practice writing skills, spelling, vocabulary, bible, and of course, the road to salvation!

These free pages are designed for homeschool families. Fonts used are dyslexia friendly and include both cursive and print.

Why Use Copywork?

Charlotte Mason teaches that exposing children to a variety of well-written work is a terrific way to develop needed skills. Not only does it familiarize students with grammar, excellent writing, a variety of literature, but it also helps to improve spelling, vocabulary, and handwriting.

Initially, you’ll want to pay attention to form. Make sure students know how to form letters properly. Then, the focus can change to improving handwriting, discussing the meaning of particular words, and spelling. With regular exposure, there is a natural process of learning taking place for proper grammar and more.

Even those who don’t like to or struggle to write generally come around to enjoy the virtues of copywork. Why? Because it’s simple, time-saving as it incorporates several subjects at once, and can be done in small increments. Although small increments are fine, you do want to be sure to use it regularly to reap the benefits.

The Beatitudes Copywork

The Beatitudes Copywork can be used to expose students to well-written works, character building, writing, grammar, spelling and more – in the style of Charlotte Mason.

Copywork Benefits for Dyslexia

Even students who don’t like to write, or those who struggle with dyslexia benefit greatly from copywork. Once the student understands that copywork helps save them time by combining subjects – they get on board quickly!

The consistent exposure is great for dyslexia. Our copywork uses dyslexia friendly fonts for cursive and print. Additionally, we include coloring pages to engage both the left and right brain. This is helpful, along with using color and creativity for students with dyslexia.

Copywork is a creative way to help students become familiar with a variety of well-written work. Familiarity with grammar, syntex, proper spelling, vocabulary and more is all combined within the copywork pages.

So, What Are the Beatitudes?

Basically, The Beatitudes are a series of bible verses and blessings taken from the Sermon on the Mount. In Matthew, chapter 5, Jesus laid out very clearly how He expects us to treat others and live our lives. Within the 12 main verses, you can learn a lot about how to have a blessed life!

For instance – “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” The poor in spirit refers to those who are humble and realize that all gifts and blessings come from the grace of God. Those who live a life aware that each and everything they have is a blessing from God, are happier people! Christ teaches the Beatitudes because they are good for us, not to limit or control our behavior, but because He knows that therein lies the secret to a happy and fulfilled life.

Light of the World Bible Copywork

Have you discovered the virtues of using copywork in your homeschool? If not, you soon will! In a Charlotte Mason style, students use well-written passages (often from the bible, poetry, or other classical pieces) to improve writing.

Of course, they are also working on reading and spelling at the same time. This Light of the World Bible Copywork package provides study opportunities for bible, reading, spelling, and writing – as well as a creative coloring page. The artwork can play an important role in helping those with dyslexia prepare to learn.

Benefits of Copywork

There are many benefits to using copywork in your homeschool. One benefit (as mentioned above) is that it exposes your students to beautifully written works – such as the Bible and others.

Something that our students have enjoyed is the fact that – with pages like these – there is a short amount of writing to do at a time. The key is having them do it consistently.

Copywork can be used to share any literary genre you like. Again, I find that short passages, or little at a time, is best. The idea isn’t to make them write until their fingers are tired, but to expose them to good writing, vocabulary, spelling and grammar – while they practice handwriting.

It’s a time-saver! Once your kids learn that they can sometimes combine spelling, vocabulary, bible, and writing . . . they will certainly appreciate the time it saves them. In our homeschool, this means more time to explore additional interests!
