This easy Christmas wreath craft and devotional for kids was created because I’m a busy mom who loves Christmas! I need quick, easy crafts . . . or else it isn’t going to happen.
It’s also important in our family to remember the real meaning of Christmas and to impart that to our children. The boys are getting bigger fast, but I still have a couple of them I can talk into doing crafts with me once in awhile. However, they will all sit with me for devotions as we read the bible and discuss how to apply it in our lives. I want to soak up as much of these moments as I can – especially knowing that in a few short years, they will have their own lives and schedules.
That is basically how A Christmas Adventure book came about! We love our adventures and consider kitchen time, craft time, and travel time . . . all part of our grand adventure.
Inspired by the 12 Days of Christmas, there is a simple devotional each day, with an easy Christmas craft to go with it. Some of the crafts are such that your children will be proud to give them as gifts.
John 3: 16 “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
During the Christmas season, we celebrate by giving gifts. It’s important that we remember that what Christmas is all about is not the presents under the tree, but about God’s gift to us in His Son – Jesus.
At Christmas, we remember that the Son of the living God came to earth, God in the form of a man, to live among us and ultimately to die for us. He didn’t come with the glory fitting a king, even though He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He was born to his mother – Mary and her husband, a carpenter named Joseph. Jesus was not born
in a castle with kings, but was born in a stable.
Luke 2:7 “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”
God shows His love for us in many ways, but the most important way is through His Son, Jesus. God’s Word tells us that He gave His only Son so that we can have everlasting life, in heaven – by believing in Him.
Everlasting means forever, eternal life with God. As you enjoy making Christmas crafts, and decorate the house and Christmas tree – remember that Jesus is the greatest gift you can ever receive.
The wreaths we hang on our doors at Christmas are circular, they are never-ending, like God’s love, and eternal – like eternal life with Jesus.
Christmas Wreath Craft
Don’t be afraid to do this craft with a variety of different kinds of supplies. We live along the coast, so it makes sense to add seashells to our family wreath. You can use local found items, pretty ornaments, plain bows, fake berries, dried berries, or dried flowers – just to name a few ideas.
We had some old faded seashells that were just begging for some silver paint. We added white starfish with a bit of glitter and small white sand dollars. I used inexpensive white hibiscus flowers and a few real pine cones – which we touched up with a bit of white paint.
Your local Dollar Tree or other inexpensive source for fake flowers will also have pretty bulbs, ornaments, and bows. I found some pretty little birds and nests there for our tree.
